Advising

We're Focused on Your Future!

TRiO AdvisorAcademic advising, Career advising and Transfer advising are available for all students. Academic advising is conducted by Student Services advisors upon enrollment. Following a student's first semester they are assigned a faculty advisor who will guide them through their academic journey at OJC. Students enrolled in the TRiO Student Support Services program may also enjoy the advising services of a TRiO advisor.

Not sure what academic and career path to follow?

We can help with Career Advising.

Through Career Counseling, students will begin to explore potential career paths by utilizing current career assessment programs and personal one on one interviews with a career counselor. By speaking with a Career Advisor, students have a better understanding of how their academic, vocational, or occupational coursework will be tracked. Use the link below to help you plan your career and be sure to discuss your objectives with your advisor.

Credit for Prior Learning (CPL)

At Otero Junior College we realize significant learning happens outside of the formal classroom setting and often in the workplace or through your interest in independently learning about a subject. Through the Prior Learning Assessment Credit  process, you can have your learning evaluated regardless of where, when, or how you acquired it as long as you can document your learning and it can be verified at a college level.

Military Training

Students who have military training and experience can earn credit based on the American Council on Education (ACE) recommendations on their Joint Services Transcript. For further information please see:
