From Las Vegas, NV, A standout soccer player during his time at OJC. Cortes earned an Associate of Science degree then transferred to UNLV. He is a graduate UNLV with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Admin. Prior to his return to OJC, Cortes had been working for Clark County School District and coaching high school soccer.

“Having attended OJC as a student gave me a strong desire to come back and be a part of such a strong, community-based institution,” said Cortes. “I hope to encourage our student athletes to be the absolute best they can be both in the classroom and in their respective sports.”

Kendra Reid, Aurora, joins new Women’s Soccer head coach Cruz Cortes-Ortiz as assistant coach of the Lady Rattlers. Reid, a member of the inaugural Women’s Soccer team at OJC, is happy to be back on campus.

After beginning studies in sports medicine while playing soccer at OJC, Reid went on to study photography. She also coached for the Real Colorado Soccer Club and for the junior varsity team at Ponderosa High School.

“My goal is to make every student athlete I encounter feel like a part of the OJC family and help shape a great experience for them while they are here,” said Reid. “Mainly though, I want to help them succeed in their educational and athletic goals so they can have the future they want.”

In her free time, Reid enjoys soccer, photography, crafts, hair and makeup.
