October 21, 2014: The Lady Rattler Soccer Team Ends Season Strong!

Season 2014 Soccer

The Lady Rattler Soccer Team ended their regular season strong this past weekend with a pair of wins at Tiger Field against Sheridan College on Friday, October 17th and Northwest College on Saturday, October 18th. OJC dominated both games, working together to outscore their opponents 13 to 1 on the weekend with goals from 8 different players, including Maira De Campos (So., Sao Joncalo, Brazil/Dom Heldes Camara) who had a goal and four assists. In addition to Saturday being the last home and regular season game for the Lady Rattlers, it was also Sophomore Appreciation Day.

The Lady Rattler’s continued to set a standard of success for a third year in a row, as they finished the regular season with an overall record of 12-1-1 and an 11-0-1 record in Region IX. This record allowed them to finish the regular season in first place in Region IX. Upon reflecting on the regular season, Coach Hutchison said, “The Lady Rattlers worked extremely hard on the practice field and during games to finish out the regular season 12-1-1, the team is fully deserving of their #1 seed in the upcoming Region IX tournament.”

The Lady Rattlers are coming off of a 7 game winning streak heading into the post-season. Now their focus shifts to the upcoming Region IX Tournament, which will take place on November 7th and 8th. OJC will face the winner of the quarterfinal game between Trinidad State Junior College and Western Nebraska Community College on November 7th in the semifinal match at 12:00pm at 5-Star Stadium in Thornton, CO. When asked about the tournament, Hutchison said, “We are planning to work consistently hard, on and off the field, in the coming three weeks in order to prepare for the Region IX tournament. One of our goals this season is to win the Region IX championship, and we’ll do what it takes to achieve it!”
