Charles Howard: First Men's Soccer Player to Receive Scholarship to a Four Year Institution

Charles Howard

Charles Howard will be transferring with a soccer athletic scholarship to University Elon this spring, 2012. Elon is a private NCAA Division One program that competes in the ACC Southern Conference. Elon’s soccer program did well last year, making it into the DI NCAA National Tournament.

Howard was instrumental in the building and success of the first Otero Junior College Men’s Soccer team. As Captain, Howard lead the team on and off the field creating a winning attitude that has been embedded in OJC soccer. He was the epitome of a true student athlete not only giving his all on the field but also in the classroom. Howard will be pursuing a degree in sport management with a minor in business at the University of Elon and is looking forward to this opportunity to continue his education and soccer career at a division one institution.

Charles said, “I would like to thank the staff and faculty at Otero Junior College for all their help and support over the past year and a half. Otero was a great starting point, it helped me to prepare in the classroom and on the playing field to move on to the next level.”

The Men’s Soccer Program would like to thank Charles Howard for everything he has brought to this program and institution. He has helped to create something very special here at OJC. He is irreplaceable and will be missed. Good Luck Charles!
