OJC Nursing and Health Programs:

Certified Nurse Aide
The Nurse Aide Program at Otero Junior College is offered each semester.

Emergency Medical Services
This program prepares the graduate to perform pre-hospital care including assessments, skills and transportation for clients suffering from traumatic injury or other medical emergencies.

Community Health Worker
The Community Health Worker program is being offered as a cooperative program among three of Southern Colorado’s outstanding rural colleges; Otero Junior College, Lamar Community College and Trinidad State Junior College.

Medical Laboratory Technician
The MLT program at Otero Junior College in Southeast Colorado offers an accredited two year AAS degree and is designed to prepare qualified laboratory professionals for entry level employment in environments such as hospitals, outpatient clinics, and private medical laboratories.

Nursing
This five semester program is designed to prepare the graduate for practice as an RN.

Practical Nursing
The ADN (RN) Program is designed with a Practical Nursing exit option. The student may choose to take an additional course at the end of the first year of the program and then will have completed the requirements for a Practical Nursing Certificate.
Training the Next Generation of Healthcare Workers
The Nursing and Health Professions Department offers Associate of Applied Science degrees in Nursing, Medical Laboratory Technician and Health Navigation. All degree programs are designed to provide the education that prepares students to test for licensure and practice as a healthcare professional. Related healthcare certificates are also offered in Community Health Worker, Practical Nurse, Certified Nursing Assistant, and Emergency Services.
