New Staff Members Hired at Otero College

Gage Mayo and Angela Moore began working at Otero College in mid-July. They are both local to the area and will be great additions to the College.

Gage Mayo, Residence Hall Manager, joins Otero College with goals to maintain a healthy and safe campus life for students. He has previously worked four years at the La Junta water department as well as four years at the Gunnison water department. He was a resident assistant at Western Colorado University which gives him a working knowledge of his position at Otero.

Mayo obtained his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Western Colorado University (WCU) in Gunnison, but is a native of La Junta. He likes how integrated the Otero campus is within the community and that it offers great educational opportunities at affordable rates. He hopes to create a vibrant living atmosphere on campus for students.

On a personal note, Mayo enjoys running, working out, playing cornhole, foosball and billiards. He is involved with the Koshare Dancers and enjoys dancing and building outfits. Mayo is a four time All-American for indoor track at WCU and a five time National Meet Qualifier.

Angela Moore has returned to Otero College as the associate vice president of enrollment management. Most recently, she was employed by CSU Pueblo as their financial aid director for two years. Prior to that she was Otero’s financial aid director for nine years and worked as an advisor for the TRiO Program for one year.

Moore has a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from Colorado State University - Ft. Collins and a Master of Arts in Higher Education Administration and Leadership from Adams State University. Some of her responsibilities on campus will include outreach events, marketing, and retention efforts.

“I love Otero’s commitment to student development and success.” Moore shared. She hopes to continue building and sustaining a healthy enrollment yield while incentivizing retention strategies to help reduce melt and improve graduation outcomes. In a nutshell, it is her job to get students here, keep them here, and help them graduate.

Originally from Pueblo, Moore relocated to the Arkansas Valley several years ago. She and her husband have three children, ages six, five and three months. When not at work, Moore loves playing with her kids, exercising, doing yoga, reading, refinishing antique furniture, cooking, and hanging out with her cows and chickens.
