OJC Graduation to be Held in Multiple Ceremonies for 2021

The Otero Junior College Class of 2021 commencement ceremonies might look a little different this year, however, unlike last year, OJC will be able to host in-person events. There will be a total of five ceremonies this year. There will be two on Friday, April 30 at 1 and 4 p.m. for all health related fields, two on Saturday, May 1 at 9 a.m. and 12 p.m., and finally one on May 5 at 10 a.m. for the Law Academy. Graduating students will be given tickets for their guests as the number of people in the gymnasium at one time must be limited. For those that would like to watch any of the ceremonies but do not have a ticket, please go to the OJC website, www.ojc.edu, to watch it virtually.

The speakers will be brief this year, but will include video presentations from Presley Askew, member of the State Board of Community Colleges and Occupational Education, Joe Garcia, Chancellor of the Colorado Community College System and in-person, Otero Junior College President Dr. Timothy A. Alvarez.

Special music during the ceremony will be provided by organist Mrs. Clara Stafford who has provided the music for our graduations for approximately 40 years. Leading graduates and guests in the national anthem on trumpet will be Dr. James Lind, OJC music faculty.

For those on campus, Snapchat filters have been created and if you upload photos to social media, we ask that you use #OJCGrad and #OJCGraduation2021.

Otero Junior College looks forward to celebrating the students at these graduation ceremonies. They have accomplished their educational goals in the midst of a global pandemic and that is worth noting. For all questions regarding these events, please contact the Student Services office at 719-384-6800.
