OJC Offering Nurse Aide Courses Beginning Oct. 12

Otero Junior College will be offering an eight-week Nurse Aide program this Fall Semester. This session will run from Oct. 12 through Dec. 9. Students will complete eight-weeks of class and one week of clinical experience. This program is offered on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings. Enrollment is now open.

According to the Nursing Program Director, Amanda Clerkin, after this semester, the program will be moving back to a 16-week course.

With cooperation from area hospitals, students receive education, training, and practical application experience that prepares them to work in nursing assistant positions. Students who complete the two-course program successfully are eligible to apply and test for State Nursing Assistant Certification. The Nurse Aide program complies with the Colorado State Board of Nursing rules for Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) education, training and practice.

For those interested in enrolling in the program, financial support may be available for those who qualify through the Colorado Workforce Center. For more information about the funds available, call the Colorado Workforce Center at 719-383-3191.

To enroll in the program, students must first apply to OJC by going to https://www.ojc.edu/futurestudents/admissions/apply-ojc.aspx then should call OJC Nursing Office at 719-384-6898.
