OJC to host Business After Hours at new Agricultural Sciences Facility

On Thursday, March 12, 2020, from 4 to 6 p.m. the Otero Junior College Agriculture Science program invites the community, staff and students to visit the new facility at McDivitt Hall.

At this event, there will be opportunities to meet the OJC students who are participating in the Agriculture and Rodeo programs. There will be games and activities for all ages, including making butter, identifying animal poop and a western photo booth. Many different farm animals will also be on campus to interact with and pet. Hot dogs, chips and water will be provided.

According to OJC Agriculture Faculty, Brooke Matthew, “The new classrooms will be open to walk through and will be set up with examples of activities that the students complete in class. We are very excited to have this new building space to provide the students with a quality learning experience.”

Science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) skills are necessary to meet the demands and challenges of the modern world in agriculture. There are many career options include working with crops, animals, and resources that contribute to the worldwide food supply. Otero Junior College offers courses to help prepare students for this high demand career market.
