BUENO-HEP Registration Now Open for Spring Semester

 

The BUENO-HEP High School Equivalency (HSE) program, at Otero Junior College, is currently accepting enrollment for spring classes. Registration is open until Jan. 9, 2020. The program assists students in the completion of the High School Equivalency requirements.

Classes will begin on Jan. 13, 2020 and run through May 21, 2020.

Earning a high school diploma or equivalent increases opportunities for employment opens the door to completion of vocational programs, attending college, or joining the military. In addition to earning higher salaries, there are also benefits such as health insurance and retirement benefits that are part of the better paying jobs. According to the US Bureau of Labor statistics, opportunities for jobs that do not require a high school or equivalent degree are decreasing while jobs requiring high school or high levels of educational are increasing.

To participate in the BUENO-HEP program, a person must be 17 or older, not enrolled in any high school, nor have a high school diploma or equivalent. It is necessary to complete an application, have a valid photo ID and make a commitment to complete the program.

The BUENO-HEP program provides instruction and materials at no cost. For those who qualify, the BUENO-HEP grant will cover the cost of one official test for each subject. Registration and orientation for Spring Semester classes should to be completed by Thursday, Jan. 9, 2020, 4:00 pm.

The office is open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Be advised that the BUENO-HEP offices will be closed from Dec. 23, 2019 to Jan. 6, 2020 at 8:00 a.m.
