Support the OJC Foundation on GivingTuesday

GivingTuesday is a global day of giving celebrated the Tuesday after Thanksgiving in the United States. This year the date is Dec. 3. To help raise awareness of charitable causes and amplify donors’ generosity, Facebook is matching up to $7 million in eligible donations made on Facebook during GivingTuesday 2019.

Last year, OJC raised nearly $8,000 for scholarships and programs on giving day. The goal for 2019 is to raise $10,000. Each contribution will make an impact, whether an individual is able to donate $5 or $500.

According to OJC President, Tim Alvarez, “Education is the only tool to help people realize the quality of life that we all want. We are committed to providing a world-class education for our students and are making a concerted effort to offer more scholarship funds to make college more affordable. The largest share of students come from our local service area. We are asking for support from our community to be able to make this a reality.”

To donate on Dec. 3, users can go to this link or find OJC’s giving page on Facebook. Supporters can also direct their gift toward a particular scholarship or program, this can be done by sending Dillon Martin, OJC Foundation Director, an email after you donate at

The OJC Foundation is a charitable, non-profit corporation dedicated to raising funds for Otero Junior College. Providing affordable, accessible and quality education is essential to our students and vital to our community. Through your donations, the Otero Junior College heritage and legacy will continue to flourish and the needs of current and future students will be met. This important work wouldn’t be possible without the generosity of the many individual and business supporters who make annual donations to the Foundation.
