Jordan Willis, head volleyball coach, expressed his feelings at winning this coveted title, “Winning the Region IX Tournament was surreal, it was a fantastic tournament. The competition level was extremely high, it was amazing.” According to Willis, the Rattlers had high goals for themselves. Before the season ever got started, their goal was to be the number one or two team in the region. Even with injuries and low points, they were still able to overcome, and won the regional tournament.

The 2019 team also had several All Region IX South awards including: Brilane Manchego of Pueblo, Setter of the Year, Kelsey Garcia of Pueblo West, Libero of the Year, Ingrid Ferrari of Botucatu, Brazil, and Macie Magallon of Norwood, Colo. The Region IX Tournament Team included Antia Vallecas of Dos Hermanas, Spain, named Most Valuable Player, Manchego, Garcia, and Magallon.

This season, Manchego broke the all-time school record in assists with 2,184. Garcia broke the all –time school record for digs with 1,112. According to Willis these numbers will likely increase in the national tournament.

Willis also thanked the community, “In all sincerity, I really appreciate the fans coming out this year, the support has been tremendous. Hopefully we can feel that support all the way to nationals!”
