Register for Spring Semester at OJC

Registration for Spring Semester at Otero Junior College is currently underway. Spring classes will begin the week of Jan. 13, 2020.

New students can call or visit the OJC Learning Commons anytime between now and Jan. 10, 2020 to learn how to connect with an advisor, complete any placement testing they may need to do, and get connected with financial aid representatives. Returning students are encouraged to schedule a meeting with their academic advisor or Learning Commons staff before registering for Spring Semester.

“We are off and running with Spring Semester registration,” said Dr. Calandra Lockhart, vice president of Academic and Student Affairs. “Our returning students should take advantage of the opportunity to register early. We will have a Registration Fair on November 20 to celebrate this process and allow students to register for classes and win prizes,” she said. If a student did not attend OJC during the Fall Semester, Lockhart assures that new students can easily begin classes in the spring and begin their degree or certificate path.

“If anyone is interested in learning more about OJC and what we have to offer, please call or come by the Learning Commons or Welcome Center. We have courses that fit many needs for traditional and non-traditional students including day and evening courses as well as hybrid and online courses,” explained Lockhart.

“Financial aid is still available for Spring Semester,” said Kelsey Barbee, financial aid director at OJC. “Approximately 80 percent of the students who currently attend OJC receive some type of financial assistance, so students should not let financial hardships prevent them from attending college. I encourage students to contact the financial aid office in the Student Services Center, so that we can help facilitate the financial aid process,” she said.

Otero Junior College offers four transferable degrees with multiple concentrations and 32 certificates. These include the Associate of Arts and Associate of Science degrees, as well as Associate of Applied Science degrees, Associate of General Studies, and Career and Technical Education certificates that prepare students to enter the workforce with a specific skill and certification.

Spring Semester begins the week of Jan. 13, 2020. To accommodate students registering for Spring Semester, the OJC Learning Commons will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday.
