OJC and Pepsi Host Registration Fair

Otero Junior College and Pepsi hosted a Registration Fair at OJC on April 17 to provide current OJC students with a quick and easy way to get registered for either Summer or Fall Semesters.

Sponsored by Pepsi, the event brought out scores of current students who were able to meet with an academic advisor and financial aid advisors to make sure they were ready to start classes again in one of the upcoming semesters.

Almabeth Kaess, associate vice president of Enrollment Management at OJC, explained that the concept behind the fair was to help students make a smooth transition into their next semester. “We are nearing the end of this academic year and most students are frantically trying to wrap up final projects and study for final exams. Sometimes in the hustle of these last few weeks, what gets missed is finding the time to get registered and set up their financial aid packages for the next semester,” said Kaess.

In a cooperative partnership with Pepsi, the official beverage contractor for the Colorado Community College System, OJC was able to provide food, beverages, t-shirts, games and prizes to students who participated in the Registration Fair.

“It was a great event to host for our students to help lighten up their stress levels at this time of year and bring the campus community together to enjoy the successes of another great year,” said Kaess. “We are very appreciative of Pepsi for their sponsorship and support of our students.”

As the year winds down at OJC, graduation ceremonies are scheduled for Saturday, May 4 at 10 a.m. in McDivitt Center Gymnasium. Summer Semester will kick of a new academic year on June 3. Fall Semester will begin on August 19.
