New Employees Spring 2019

 

Throughout the fall semester several changes have occurred in staffing with many of OJC’s current employees taking on new responsibilities and jobs. Justin Miell, Structural Trades I. Dr. James M. Lind, Music Faculty. Sarah Petramala, Executive Assistant to the President. Tiana Eddy, Coordinator of Grants and Data. Tanisha Herasingh, Coordinator of the Business Office and Bookstore Purchasing.

OJC New StaffJustin Miell joined OJC as Structural Trades I in December. His primary responsibility is to keep the campus and facilities safe, comfortable, and efficiently maintained for students and staff. He has over 20 years of electrical experience as well as experience in plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and auto mechanics. Miell is a veteran of the US Army. He was most recently employed at Fort Lyon in Bent County where he worked in all areas of maintenance needed for the facility and grounds to operate safely and efficiently. Miell is a local of the area and graduated from Rocky Ford High School in 1991. In his free time, he enjoys playing music, working on old vehicles, and garage projects. He is married and has three daughters and one son.

 

OJC New StaffDr. James M. Lind has joined OJC as full time music faculty. However, for the past two years he has been a part-time music instructor with OJC. Dr. Lind has a plethora of music experience. In his new role he will work to develop a music program and teaching classes in music theory, ear training, music history, and music appreciation. He is married with one daughter. He is originally from Fort Worth, Texas. He taught at universities in Texas and has performed in the Pueblo Symphony and Dallas Opera Orchestra. In his free time, he enjoys performing music in all genres and settings, traveling, hiking, reading, watching sports, baseball and football, and relaxing with family. He hopes to develop a top notch music program in southern Colorado where students are encouraged in a creative environment. He wants each of his students to leave OJC prepared to face challenges in tomorrow’s world.

 

OJC New StaffSarah Petramala has been and employee of OJC since 2012. She began serving as the Executive Assistant to the President at the beginning of the fall semester. She has experience on campus working with the STEM programs and the Business Office. She explained that as the President’s assistant she does a lot of scheduling, event planning, is on a number of committees, and each day brings something different. She received and Associates of Arts degree from OJC and then when on to earn a Bachelor’s degree at the University of Northern Colorado. In her free time Sarah enjoys watching hockey and leads the high school youth group at her church. She also enjoys painting and playing tennis. Right now she wants to do the best she can in her current role and hopes to continue advancing into new roles at the college.

 

OJC New StaffTiana Eddy moved to the Coordinator of Grants and Data position previously held by Sarah Petramala. She has been working at OJC for two years as the Coordinator of the Business Office and Bookstore Purchasing. Her new role will allow her to learn more functions and systems in the Business Office. She is responsible for accounts payable, purchasing and travel cards, and the internal audit. Eddy received a bachelor’s degree from OJC and bachelors of science in business management from Western Governors University. In her spare time Eddy enjoys spending time with family, animals and cooking. While working at OJC Eddy hopes to the best at her job and contribute to making OJC better for students and employees.

 

OJC New StaffTanisha Herasingh is the Coordinator of the Business Office and Bookstore Purchasing. She previously was a work-study for the human resources department for two years and then a part-time clerk for a few months for human resources. She earned an Associates of Arts degree from Otero Junior College. Herasingh explained that she enjoys baking and spending time with family and her animals. She enjoys that OJC is such a close community of people.
