OJC Law Academy Graduation to be held on Dec. 4


The Otero Junior College Law Enforcement Training Academy will graduate 16 students on Tuesday, Dec. 4 at 10 a.m. in the Rizzuto Banquet room located in OJC’s Student Center. This class will be the 42nd class to graduate from the Law Academy since the Academy was established in 1999.

Miner Blackford, academy director, will begin the ceremony with opening remarks. Dr. Timothy Alvarez, president of Otero Junior College, will welcome the graduates and their guests. A former student of the Law Academy, Jeremy Leisure, will be the guest speaker. Leisure graduated in 2016 from the Law Academy, with the 37th class.

Blackford stated, “A reception will follow the ceremony that we invite and encourage all to come sit, eat, and visit with us.”

The OJC Law Enforcement Training Academy is an intensive 15-week, 40-semester-hour training course. The Academy is staffed by veteran certified peace officers and career professionals who teach the latest in law enforcement techniques using state-of-the-art equipment. The course-work offered by the Academy is continually upgraded each semester and is designed to prepare students to take the Colorado POST examination to become Colorado Certified Peace Officers.
