OJC Volleyball Team Ready for the Region IX South Tournament


OJC’s volleyball team’s regular season has ended. Next up on the schedule is the Region IX South tournament. The tournament will be held at Laramie County Community College in Cheyenne Wyo, beginning on Nov. 1, 2018. Head Volleyball Coach, Jordan Willis, is confident the team has a chance to advance to the national tournament with two bids coming from the Region IX South tournament. The teams current record overall record is 23-5 and their Region IX South record is 6-4. They are ranked number three in Region IX South. “I have been ecstatic with the season so far and what the team has accomplished together.” Willis said.

The team has had strong season up to this point. They have been ranked nationally for several weeks in a row. The last two games the volleyball team has won. On Oct. 16 they defeated Trinidad State Junior College and on Oct. 18 they beat Lamar Junior College. Willis explained that the team’s moto faith, fight, finish has been helping them throughout the season. “We are ready for to finish the Region IX South tournament.” Willis stated. “I know this team is ready for what the Region IX South tournament may throw at them.”

Willis illustrated that goals the team started the season with are the goals they plan to end with. “We have worked hard and had fun.” Willis said. “Our goal is still to win the Region IX South tournament and earn a national tournament title.”
