OJC Law Academy Graduation to be held on Apr. 25


The Otero Junior College Law Enforcement Training Academy will graduate 10 students on Wednesday, Apr 25 at 10 a.m. in the OJC Student Center Banquet Room. This class will be the 41 class to graduate from the Law Academy since the Academy was established in 1999.

Miner Blackford, academy director, will begin the ceremony with opening remarks. Jim Rizzuto, president of Otero Junior College, will welcome the graduates and their guests and serve as the speaker for ceremony. The student speaker for the graduation is Jared Penaflor, Lamar.

Josh Huey, Trinidad

Blackford stated, “A reception will follow the ceremony that we invite and encourage all to come sit, eat, and visit with us.”

The OJC Law Enforcement Training Academy is an intensive 15-week, 40-semester-hour training course. The Academy is staffed by veteran certified peace officers and career professionals who teach the latest in law enforcement techniques using state-of-the-art equipment. The course-work offered by the Academy is continually upgraded each semester and is designed to prepare students to take the Colorado POST examination to become Colorado Certified Peace Officers.
