OJC 2017 traditional practical nurse graduates to be pinned
Six graduates will be pinned as practical nurses in a ceremony to be held on Friday, May 26 at 6 p.m. in the Ed Stafford Theatre in the OJC Humanities Center.
The students have completed at least 11 months of full-time study in addition to completing related course work prior to admission into the nursing program. Students include Adam Boothroyd, Sophia Cordova, Cheyenne Day, Kaylee Delao, Cindy Madril and Kylee Provost.
Successful completion of the Practical Nursing program allows the graduate to submit an application to the State Board of Nursing for the State Licensure Examination. Upon passing the state exam, graduates will receive the distinction of being a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). These students are also prepared to enter their second year in the nursing program to complete an Associate of Applied Science degree in nursing and test to become a Registered Nurse.
For those interested in studying for a career in nursing, Fall Semester at OJC begins on August 21. For information about enrolling in the OJC Nursing Program, contact the OJC Student Services office at 719-384-6831 or the Nursing Dept. office at 719-384-6898.
