Cast announced for Otero Players’ Bus Stop

The Otero Players are set to bring their production of Bus Stop by William Inge to the stage April 21, 22, and 23. In a small diner about 30 miles outside of Kansas City, a storm has come in late at night, closing the road off for the regular bus line that passes through. The passengers must wait it out at the diner, bringing the locals and a strange mix of characters together.  As the night turns to morning, each character shares their own backstory, creating a lively mix of drama, romance, and comedy.

The cast includes a mix of Otero Junior College students, faculty and community members; some experienced and some new to the stage.

Bailey Ashida is Cherie a night club singer and passenger on the bus. Paul Diaz deLeon plays Bo Decker, a young cowboy heading home with Cherie in tow. MacKenzie King portrays Elma Duckworth, a teenager with a cheerful personality and a penchant for culture and art. Alex Sonnier takes on the role of Dr. Gerald Lyman, a “boyish” older gentleman and professor stranded by the bus delay. Adan Munoz works the guitar as Virgil Blessing, an older, wiser cowboy who is a companion to Bo. Dillon Morlan keeps the peace as Will, the town sheriff. Heather Pidcock-Reed runs the diner as Grace. Jeffrey Reed plays Carl, the bus driver who has a regular stop at the diner.

The production runs April 21, 22, and 23.  The Friday and Saturday shows will begin at 7:00 p.m. while the Sunday show will be a 2:00 p.m. matinee. There is no charge for admission.

The Otero Players is an independent project of the Otero Junior College Department of Arts. For more information on the production or Otero Players, contact Cass Litle, OJC English and Theatre Faculty, at (719)384-6851.
