Sterner-Neely named creative writing judge for 61st Otero Arts Festival
Author and Pueblo Community College faculty Matthew Sterner-Neely will join the 61st Otero Arts Festival as the creative writing judge. Voted faculty of the year for 2016 at PCC, Sterner-Neely teaches composition, children’s literature and creative writing. In his biography, Sterner-Neely explains that he teaches using pop-culture and the impact on pop-culture icons on student interactions. In his free time, he enjoys not only writing, but tap dancing and visits to the zoo with his family.
The creative writing category of the Otero Arts Festival is open to students in the Arkansas valley in grades 7-12 and includes poetry, creative writing essays, short stories and creative writing books. The deadline for entries is Friday March 3 at 5 p.m. in the Humanities center, room 105 at Otero Junior College.
The exhibit, featuring visual art, is open to the public April 4, 5 and 6 in the McDivitt Center Gymnasium. More information on the 61st Otero Arts Festival with guidelines and deadlines can be found at www.ojc.edu/OteroArtsFestival.aspx.
