Opportunities for hosting international students this summer
If you have always wanted to host an international student, your chance to experience a short-term exchange is coming this summer. For the first time ever, Russian students who will attend Otero Junior College in the fall of this year will arrive a month early and stay with local families.
La Junta area families will host the students from the time of their arrival around the third week of July until the fall semester starts August 21. From that point, the students will settle into the dorms on the OJC campus. The International Relations office at Otero Junior College says the early arrival will give the students a chance to assimilate into American culture and learn a little about American family life. The families who accept a student will have a student in their home for a short amount of time, yet stay connected during the school year once the student moves onto campus and begins classes.
If you would like to be considered to be a host family for this unique cultural opportunity please contact Anne Taylor at the Otero Junior College International Relations office at 719-384-6804 or by e-mail at anne.taylor@ojc.edu.
