OJC hosts Agri-Business Management conference
On September 29 and 30, Agri-Business Management (ABM) Instructors from across the state met at Otero Junior College for their annual fall conference. Instructors met to discuss important changes in the agriculture businesses sectors as well as visit with local agriculture business men and women.
This year Frank Grant, Crowley County Commissioner, spoke to the group about county land planning and the need for small agriculture communities to increase entrepreneurship opportunities. The group also toured L&M packing in Rocky Ford. This was an excellent learning opportunity on cash crops and their distribution.
Agri-Business Management courses work at enhancing the business management skills of area farm and ranch producers and operators in ag-related business. Emphasis is placed on developing computerized records, which will enable students to analyze the profitability of their overall operations, as well as each identified profit center.
ABM courses are independently taught at each producers/ operators personal location making each class personalized to your agriculture business. If you are interested in learning more about this certificate program please contact Becky Gremillion, 719-252-9163, Ryan Belew, 719-469-3820 or Mack Myers 719-569-0734.
