Chaos Weightlifting Club has an impact at the Youth National Weightlifting Championships

Three local youth and 11 members from Pueblo represented the Chaos Weightlifting Club at the Youth National Weightlifting Championships in Austin, Texas June 23-25.

Otero Junior College’s Trevor Johnston took 3rd place as an individual in the 39kg class for 11 and under. The Chaos 13 and under boys team took 3rd place, the Chaos 13 and under girls team took 2nd place, and the Chaos 14-15 year boys team took 3rd place.

“I am proud of Trent Johnston, Trevor Johnston, and Jay Grimsley for their solid performance against such huge competition at the National Championships.  These boys competed against the best weightlifters across the nation and were able to bring some awards back to OJC and the community of La Junta,” said Chaos Weightlifting Coach and OJC Fitness Center director Kurt Long.

“We have a very talented and dedicated Chaos team here at OJC and out of Pueblo.  I look forward to coaching and watching these young athletes grow and continue to make an impact across the nation.  We are always looking for dedicated youth athletes to join our Chaos team,” Long added.
