Manfredi receives T. Shawn McGrath Memorial PTK Scholarship
Elizabeth Manfredi is the 2016 recipient of the T. Shawn McGrath Memorial PTK Scholarship sponsored by Phi Theta Kappa and the Otero Junior College Foundation. This $1,000 award is a transfer scholarship supported by Phi Theta Kappa to honor former PTK sponsor and science instructor T. Shawn McGrath who passed away in 2013.
To be eligible for the scholarship, students must be graduating in the current year from Otero Junior College with an Associate of Arts, Associate of Science or Associate of Applied Science degree; be members in good standing of Phi Theta Kappa; and have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
Elizabeth Manfredi, who graduated from OJC on April 30 with an associate of applied science degree in nursing, will receive this award to use as she continues her education. Ms. Manfredi’s plans are to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree through Grand Canyon University. She would like to focus on pediatric or emergency nursing. She also plans to earn a Therapeutic Riding Instructor certification through the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International.
During her time at OJC, Manfredi was active in the President’s Leadership Program and Phi Theta Kappa.
